    Default Tioga County LTCF Process

Is it as easy as it claims to be on their web site?

Just the application, driver's license and 20 bucks cash?

I have a home within walking distance of the court house. When my LTCF from the "City of the First Class" expires in a few years I plan to renew in Tioga - after changing the address on my DL.

This assumes you don't have anything that would pop up on a NICS check.

You should be in and out in less than 15 min.

Nothing like what filthydelphia put you through.

    Hi all,
I recently moved back home to Wellsboro after having been gone for 28 years. I was told I had to wait 6 months and have at least 3 months of utility bills to prove residence, that was from the permit office at theTioga county court house. Is this right? Can the counties put their own restrictions on obtaining the LTCF?

Thanks in advance for any help clarifying this.

State law preempts local ordinances or policies and the answer is no but some Sheriffs ignore the law and impose restrictions anyway contrary to the published state law.
You'd think by now that an illegally denied applicant with the assistance of the NRA would have petitioned the courts for an order directed to the recalcitrant Sheriff to comply with PA state law but apparently nobody ever does.
    Go figure????

Took the wife down and in 20Min we both walked out with our License's. Just remember to have the names/addresses/phone numbers of 2 people who live in Tioga Co. I was really surprised it was that fast. Good experience..

Yep, except some places like Philly like to make up their own rules and hope that no one calls them on it.

Yep. Except a better way to look at it is "Is Philly really that messed up?". They seem to be the biggest offenders of the UFA.

I went back last week and we ended up getting in a discussion about my references. I had listed my girlfriend, that I live with, and was told that since we live together that is considered family and I could not use her. The sheriff was not in so it was just me and a girl that works in the office. We discussed the references for a few minutes, I listed another friend, paid my $20 and would have been on my way in 15 minutes if the computer had not of frozen and needed a reboot. Instead it took about 20 minutes.
