Default atf reporting of the sale of 2 or more handguns

I was searching the ATF for info on becoming an FFL dealer and I was surprised to find this.

"Reports of multiple sales of two or more handguns sold at one time or during any five consecutive business days are also required to be submitted to ATF. 18 USC 923(g)(3)."

I never realized there was this requirement. Was I living under a rock?

Basically, yes. I don't know when that started, but it was years ago.

The answer to buying more than one handgun in a five day period is to buy one handgun each from multiple dealers . . .

Does that include to illegal Mexicans - or just to the TAX-PAYING citizenry?

Mexicans are exempt. Illegal Canadians are required to report, politely, of course.

Yes, multi pistol form (also counts for AR lowers) must be submitted to ATF within 24 hours (usually faxed before close of business)

One of the odd questions asked on the multi pistol form is the "County of Birth"

I have no idea why they ask this question since it's not asked on the 4473

It's been that way since I've been into handguns. It's nothing extra for you but the FFL has to send an extra form to ATF which is an extra headache for them. My buddy who I use as my FFL won't let me buy more than one per week so he doesn't have to mess with the form.

Respectfully, one does not have to do the multiple purchase form for AR lowers. Only those firearms, frames or receivers which are specificly handguns.

    My dealer does the same...
I dont see the point tho. I would imagin 2 long guns with .30 caliber is just as harmful, if not more then 2 pistols....
