Default Awesome camping spots in Ches. Co.??

    Hey guys,
My 5 year old son and I have done a couple "camping trips" in the backyard and he LOVES it, its become our bonding time. I really want to cultivate his interest in the outdoors. I want to take him a little further to ease him into real camping, while sticking close to home and car. I camped a lot in college, but that was years ago and in NC, so I'm clueless around here.

I've never camped in a planned 'campsite' so I'm nt sure how they are for the real experience. Like I said, within an hour or so of 19087 and able to car-camp, or at least stay fairly close to the car, would be best. Not too big on amenities, I like it pretty basic. We just like to pitch a tent, build a little fire for some food, and do some camp chores while we talk.

If anybody has had a great experience anywhere I would truly apreciate the tips. If you have a 'secret spot' you'd like to share feel free to PM rather than post!

    Thanks in advance.

Hickory Run State Park has a few regular bears around. Take the NE extension up to the Rt 80 exit and go west for an exit.

    Planned campsites with car camping.

When your feeling adventurous, Rickets Glen state park is superb. But Bear discipline should be practiced there as well.
