Default How is the Springfield Mil-spec 1911 compared to the...

    Kimber Custom II.

I have had my eye on the Springfield for quite a while but I had an opportunity to shoot the Kimber at a shooting range yesterday. I put a tennis ball at 42 feet for shits and giggles and hit it 5 times (out of 8 shots). I am not a good shot at all, plus 1911 sights suck, but Jesus man, that thing is a tack driver. Will I be able to perform the same way with the Springfield?

The Mil-Spec has raised 3-dot sight, unlike the GI model that has the classic low profile ones. I enjoy mine, though I'm still breaking it in. The one plus side I like is the larger trigger guard, easier to wear gloves and shoot than on the Kimber, thanks to the Mil-Specs lower profile,GI style trigger. My fiancee and I have both, I prefer the Mil-Spec, she prefers her Kimber. Just my thoughts on it.

I'm sure you will. Accuracy is mostly dependant on you. If you get to the point where you can tell which gun is more accurate then you have achieved greatness.
