Re: Time to renew C.C.W. license
My point is even states which call it a Concealed Weapons Permit it still covers more than concealed carry. You imply calling it a LTCF makes it cover more than just concealed carry. Well even states which call it a cwp the permit still covers more than just concealed carry.
I am not a lawyer and nothing I say should be construed as legal advice.

Re: Time to renew C.C.W. license
Everyone at work knows I carry. That was never a "sekrit".
It can't really be when the head of HR and my boss are both Facebook friends.
Oops.

Re: Time to renew C.C.W. license
I have a non resident PA pistol permit that now has to be renewed by coming to PA in person, to get it renewed, The permit was obtained in Center County PA. My question is this can I go to any part of PA like a town that is just over the NYS border & get it renewed there ? or do I have to travel all the way into PA to Center County to have it done.?

The words, license and permit, are interchangeable for general conversation,
including any and all posts on this forum. They mean the same thing.
Those who like to point out that there is a difference,
either need a break from the forum, or are O.C.D.,
in which case, they are unable to take a break.

Re: Time to renew C.C.W. license
There is actually a conceptually significant difference in old English and the related common law between "license" and "permit". A license is for an activity that is generally not prohibited, but may have some regulation. A permit is for an activity that is generally prohibited, but your such a special wonderful person that the king would permit you to do it.
As an example, everyone has a right to travel and today that means a car. But society has decided that maybe we should make sure you can safely operate a 3000 lb motor vehicle before you head out on the road. So you have to take a test to get the license.
If you are under the legal age to get a drivers license we may permit you to drive under certain circumstances. With a licensed driver in the vehicle so that you can practice and learn being the most common reason.
And of course using the word concealed incorrectly fosters the notion that a weapon must be concealed.
Happy now?If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

put your zip plus 4 in the box in the upper right hand corner.

And this goes past the point of my post, that you quoted.
... for general conversation!
Only fosters that notion in the minds of people that don't apply for, and use
an LTCF, CCW, CWP, etc, etc. The person receiving the whatever should
know all the laws that applies to the application, and use of the whatever.

Re: Time to renew C.C.W. license
Interesting question, don't know the answer. Your best bet would be to call the Sheriff of the closest county to where you are in NYS and work your way out until you find one that will take care of the renewal.
You can find a general list of the non resident LTCF friendly Sheriff's here: http://www.pafoa.org/counties
On a side note, not sure if it was in effect when you got your Pa license initially, or if it applies to renewal, but there is a requirement that in order to obtain a Pa non-resident license you have to have a similar license/permit from your home state, as long as your state issues such an item.
