Re: PA Capitol Firearm Check "procedure"
They issue isn't that they "asked" for anything. It's that they absolutely refused to comply with their statutory obligation (secure storage of items per 913) absent the presentation of two forms of gov't identification when there was no RAS of a crime, I was participating in no 'privileged activity', and there is no authority that I can find (either in their own policy OR statute) for them to make such a demand.

See what Greg posted, plus also the issue of them filling out forms improperly, and not confirming that the person bringing a form back is actually the person who checked it in.
Plus, there's also the academic interest in the exact procedures they're using to comply with the Statute compared to other county procedures.

Re: PA Capitol Firearm Check "procedure"
Where does the Capitol Police get the authority for section 4.6.4 of the Capitol Police Duty manual?

Re: PA Capitol Firearm Check "procedure"
While not firearm related, it is "weapon" related. I'm about to visit the Capitol tomorrow, to listen to the voting on Bills relating to cyber schools. I normally have 2 or 3 knives on my person. I couldn't find a banned items list on here or on google for the Capitol. Does anyone know what items they take away from people as they enter the building?
I hate to lose my knives, or lighters/other EDC items.
**update** Had my clear red water bottle run through the X-ray, and I got pulled aside to get wanded for a belt. I left my knives and lighters in a bag in the car. One of my bestfriends was not so smart. She had a pocket knife, and had to leave the building and put it into the car. The guards suddenly went really surious when they were confronted with a small pocket knife carrying person. I'd hate to see how they would react to finding a firearm on someone.Last edited by BlueTrooper; March 14th, 2013 at 10:37 AM.

Re: PA Capitol Firearm Check "procedure"
Heh, I had to go in and out the building 3 or so times. The guards got to know that I carried quite well. Who knew that click pens had enough metal that it would set off the detector? By my third and last time through, the detector didn't even beep on me. The guards joked that it must have gotten to know what I carried.
