Default VIDEO - Son of Phila. Cop Has Butt Beat in Bar Brawl - PPD Launches Manhunt

Here's something that kinda ticks me off. It's common with LEO in general.

Here's a case in Old City of a bar brawl last week. At 2AM all bars in Philadelphia must shut except for after-hours members-only nightclubs. In Old City, this means a tsunami of drunks and douchebags from South Jersey [Snooki's boyfriends] are flushed out into the street all at once. It's an environment were fights easily break out.

Usually when they break out, PPD doesn't do much for you here unless they actually break up the fight or a complainant walks up to a PPDO covered in blood, or there's a shooting or a death.

But here is a case were a PPDO's son gets his ass handed to him on a platter by a group of 4 mooks. Here's the video (PPD edited out the blow that gave the victim a concussion):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7ISp...embedded#at=40

You can clearly see the "victim" here at 1:00 enter the scene and strike one of the brawlers in the back of the head. Once he did that, the mooks instantly turn around and beat his ass senseless.

So what does this have to do with anything? Well, when the PPD discovered that this is an officer's son, the cops went to get surveillance video, spent hours editing it and a half hour uploading it to YouTube and ALL THE PHILLY NEWS STATIONS were contacted with a link to the video.

The PPD's YouTube channel is usually where the PPD posts Philadelphia's Most Wanted.

Seriously, this is a bar brawl. With hands. No firearms. Nobody killed. The kid was released from the hospital and is probably fine now.

A 4 on 2 assualt is more then just a bar brawl. Also, I am not sure how you define "fine" but he has a broken jaw, fractured left orbital bone and 6 stitches. This just affrims the notion that people should be prepared to protect themselves at all times.

Mike: I don't disagree. However even with those injuries, had this victim had not been the son of a PPDO, this is what would have happened:

    - Officer would have taken complaint and descriptions
    - Filed it
    - Radio Call on suspects
    - That's it

Not a press release, or the PPD actually pulling camera tape, and certainly not editing up the video to send off with a full court press circulation.

The PPD would not have gone to this much effort for just you or me, unless there was a shooting involved or the victim happened to be banged up so bad as to be in critical condition or had died.

This is not an unusual circumstance. I can point to the stolen water incident in the 15th District, over in Tacony, where a retired PPDO, with a phone call, got two white shirts and a gaggle of blue shirts to haul off a complainee to the roundhouse, for alleged theft of tap water for less than $10.

Since the slumloard doing the complaining happened to be an ex-cop who had gotten himself in hot water, it was one of their own with a problem, so the PPD used every resource available to handle it and wound up grossly overreacting [the Philadelphia DA dropped the complaint after the nature of the incident became public].

who knows what happened prior to the fight. maybe he was in the club acting out on his daddy's authority and legitimetly started shit that the other group finished.

    maybe it was drunks brawling.

either way he put himself in a position( through actions or words ) to have trouble.

no doubt the critical blow that layed him out was a cheap shot from a dude lookin to get his licks in.

i would love to have been a fly on the wall for this, whatever happened ,they wanted no parts of the wittness they are trying to find.
To err is human, to be prepared divine
