Just south of Canonsburg is Ace sporting goods http://www.acesportinggoods.com/ , and a range to check about a half hour north is Coraopolis sportsman club. http://www.cdsc.us/

Re: hello and need some info on ranges
I too appreciate all thin help since Im new to the area as well.
I will caution the OP though to NOT shoot at "Anthony Arms" indoor range located in West Mifflin.
Its ran by a bunch of A-holes and its really a rip off in price to shoot there."One must be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves” ~ Machiavelli

Re: hello and need some info on ranges
I'm new to the forum, and hoping you could help me out. I just learned that PA now requires you to buy a $30 license or possess a valid hunting license if you are going to use the ranges on the state game lands. Since that is about the same as annual dues at the Cansonsburg Sportsmen's Association, I'm thinking of joining there. Does anyone belong to the Sportsmen's or know anything about it.
Thanks

Re: hello and need some info on ranges
I thought I'd offer some more detail.
The stores mentioned above are good. Ace is the largest in the area. There are also some smaller shops in the area such as Gun Runner, and Johnson's Sporting Goods.
There is a Cabela's not too far away south.
Coraoplis is pretty far from Cannosburg.
Dormont Mt. Lebonan Sportsman's Club (DML) is probably the biggest around, beside McDonald Sportsmen's Club.
I'm a member of DML and it mostly an older crowd. They don't do any IDPA or run and gun events, nor do they allow you to draw and shoot from a holster. They are very focused on marksmanship. Bullseye, small bore rifle, High Power, CMP, Silhoutte, air pistol, all the NRA events. You have to be a member to attend.
McDonald does USPSA, Cowboy action events among others. I don't know if the events are open to the public, something I've been meaning to check on.
I actually tried to get into several clubs in the area when I moved to Washington County, but DML was the only one that I didn't have to know someone to get in or get stonewalled when I called about membership.
Pitcairn Monroeville Sportsmen Club is another good club, but they are pretty far away.
I hope this helps."The best investment on earth is earth."

Re: hello and need some info on ranges
thanks for the info. i was into competion shotting for a while but due to certain things beyond my control i am not able to shoot some of the activites i once enjoyed. just mainly looking for a place to plink and teach my wife how to safley shoot just in case she ever needs to use one. up in my area of ny we have only have 3 clubs and its a mixed bag on how you will be treated from one day to the next. sorry if there is typing errors but had wrist surgery and my fingers sometimes have a mind of there own lol

Re: hello and need some info on ranges
A&S Indoor Pistol Range in Youngwood is nice. It's about 45 minutes east. Take me a little longer than that to get there from the city but it's really the only decent range around. That I know of anyway.
