Does Ammo Have to be Signed for? (UPS or FedEX)
I have been readin on the interwebz that usually someone has to sign for the ammo if you order it online. Is that true for PA?
I just ordered some from a guy in WV and when I asked him he thought they would just leave it at the door.
Its just hard to be home during the day when UPS comes.

I've ordered ammo from Cheaperthandirt.com and have never had to sign for it. I believe it was sent UPS ground.

In my experience ammo only has to be signed for it the vendor specifies it. I've ordered from Grafs and they always require a signature. I don't think Sportsman's Guide requires a signature. Can't remember if Cabela's or Midway do. However, if a signature is required and you are not there when it is delivered they usually leave a tag on your door for you to sign. You sign the tag, place it back on your door the next day and they'll come buy, pick up the signature tag and leave your package on the porch. That has always been my experience.

I think that would depend on whether the shipper sends it as requiring an 18+ sig. I ordered 2k of 5.56 last year, my UPS guy knocked on the door and joyously yelled, "Your ammo's here!"

Sportsman's Guide, UPS, no signature required...in 2010.
Don't know about this year, yet.

You'd THINK so, but I used to come home and find it sitting unattended on my porch.
That's why I have EVERY piece of gear or ammo sent to my office NOW - if I ain't there, the doctor's office next door will always sign for it and sit on it for me, until I get back.

Re: Does Ammo Have to be Signed for? (UPS or FedEX)
I can't speak for UPS although our polocies are very similar, but as a 25 year employee of FedEx I can tell you that it's up to the shipper as they have to pay extra if they ship it signature required. If the shipper sends it that way we MUST get a signature or risk getting fired. I can't comment on state or federal laws reguarding that as I don't really know.
