Ammo purchase online vs. gun show or??
I need to add some ammo to my stock and have been looking for the best price or at least an economical means of buying. I see some good prices online but I've never purchased ammo online so I'm ignorant of the details of the process. Shipping, of course, but is there a hazmat charge? I learned about the hazmat charge when I found a good price for powder then had to add in the hazmat charge. That made local purchases look much better even with PA sales tax.
Then there are gun shows. If I pay cash is my identity recorded? In this politically fragile time, I'm not eager to leave too clear a trail. Online most often requires a credit card, hence paper trail.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
and Thanks.

I never paid a Hazmat charge for ammo I buy online, just shipping. Some places want you to fax a copy of your ID some don't. If you do not want to use a credit card online send a money order. I usually don't get ammo at gun shows one because I don't go to a lot of shows and two I usually don't see any great deals.

I just bought a case from Luckygunner and there was no other charge besides shipping. I didn't need to fax them anything, I probably agreed to something online about my age etc. Shipping was VERY quick and communication excellent. Ammo shipments are supposed to require an adult signature. You may find one shipper wants it while another doesn't.

Some places ask you to fax or e-mail a picture of your dl.
The trick with online purchase is to find sellers that don't rape you on shipping. Some are fair and others seem to charge outrageous minimal shipping fees. Although with the price of fuel today I imagine shipping costs are way up. Also it seems the more you buy the cheaper the cost is, at least in my experience. If you don’t want to spend that much try and get a friend or two to go in with you and split divide the sipping cost up per box.FUCK BIDEN

I've bought ammo on sale at Cheaper than Dirt and only paid shipping, and no need to fax any ID. It got to me in about 3 days and shipping wasn't outrageous.

Walmart is hard to beat with common calibers. If you have a friend that works there, have them buy it for you and get 10% off (giving them the cash to pay, of course). I have not seen too many places that beat WM's prices unless you buy 1000 rds at one time.

Re: Ammo purchase online vs. gun show or??
Walmart is still a good deal price-wise, unless you are looking for something big like a full case of ammunition. Cheaper than dirt has reasonable shipping costs. When I bought 2 extra magazines for my Bersa from Eagle Arms (New Jersey), I was charged twice as much for shipping, than it cost me for 4 items I bought from Chreaper than Dirt, which shipped from Texas.
...and they have a plan...

You can sometimes find bargains on Auction Arms. Some of the vendors even have free shipping on some items, or low cost shipping.
