Alright, Hi-Point
...bashers. In another thread, 3 out of 4 respondents are saying 'never buy Hi-Point' , but many will then praise the carbines...which are literally the same gun piece for piece except for the longer barrel and a stock...
It's poll time; tell the truth now!"...a REPUBLIC, if you can keep it."

Re: Alright, Hi-Point
I said it in the other thread, I'll say it here; I'll buy anything if the price is right.
I'd love to have a Hi Point carbine, if I could find a deal. However, I won't be spending the next spare $200 I have on one.
Ps, where's the poll?Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Re: Alright, Hi-Point
How about owned the carbine. Hated it. Many will surely say it's such a good little gun for the money. Blah blah, it sucks. It's made out of pot metal, the top cover wasn't even drilled straight, or cut straight corner to corner... It holds 10 rounds and looks like dried monkey shit. It was reasonably accurate, and didn't fuck up. Everything else about it sucked. I thought it might be neat. A lot of people like them.
Not me.
No thank you. If the carbines are the ones worth praise, then I know all I need to know.
Where's the poll option for; "no" from real personal experience?

Re: Alright, Hi-Point
Ive never owned a Hi-Point but have shot the 9mm and the .45 models.
They are clunky and big,but every time I pulled the bang switch, it fired.
Here's some vids of a few guys really doing some crazy torture testing on a couple of Hi-Points.
Honestly, I was amazed at how much torture those little guns could withstand.
Im kind of a pistol snob, but hell. I wouldn't mind having a Hi-Point just to play around with I guess.
However, I wouldn't carry it and put my life on the line with a Hi-Point.
This vid is the first of a series.

I never held one or fired one but I did a lot of reading and researched them, most people that actually own them are happy with it. They realize it will never be a $1k H&K but it's not a total turd in their mind either.

Re: Alright, Hi-Point
In a lot of ways, firearms are like cars, you cant always afford the one you really would like to have, but you at least get one that works.
Most people will not brag about driving a Ugo but it gets them from point A to B.
And every car makers have their share of lemons, no matter how expensive the vehicle.
I have held several Hi-points, thought about buying one for an inexpensive gun, I decided not to as I did not like the feel of the gun in my hand, but I don't like the grip on glocks either even though they are great firearms.
So if you don't like it don't own one, if its the only thing you can afford then in will due until you can afford something better.
Some times we gun owners can be just as snobbish as any other group.RIP -The US constitution.

Re: Alright, Hi-Point
By the way...I started off as a basher, until I had a few...yep, ugly as sin, weigh a ton, nail drivers. My wife actually carried one for a while, until she decided that she wanted a DA/SA auto.
I had only one dog, a 9mm that I bought for next to nothing (the transfer and PICS cost me more than the gun). FTF, FTE, awful...called Beemiller, explained that I bought it used and wondered what it would cost to fix, was told 'lifetime is lifetime, send 'er on in. Got it back ten days later, absolutely blueprinted, plus the new mag...and it never had another problem.
And, as I've said before, if you run out of ammo, you can still use it to beat the thug to death."...a REPUBLIC, if you can keep it."

Re: Alright, Hi-Point
I own the 9mm. Ugly as Hell and Clunky other than that I have put over 400 Rounds through it and not one issue, I havent even cleaned the thing yet.
Father in Law owns the same gun, had an issue with the slide sticking. Mailed it back, got it back in one week and has not had an issue since.
If anyone ever wants to try it out send me a pm, I'm down at BVRPC all the time. For Under $200 I'm completely happy.
