Default good encounter in Wind Gap

With the better weather I started hiking again for the exercise. I like to hit parts of the Appalachain trail. It's a cardio workout but is easier on the joints & back than running.

Anyway.....I was getting out of my SUV with a stainless wheelgun in a Galco holster. Up rolls a Wind Gap cop. He stays in the car. I know he sees the gun on my hip. It went something like this.

    Him: Hi....how you doin?
    Me: OK
Him: You goin up the hill??
    Me: Yeah
I have my wallet out. I know he saw me get out of a vehicle. I gesture with the wallet.
Him: No...that's OK. Have you seen 2 guys with a much younger girl??
    Me: No.
Him: If you see them up on the trail....would you tell them to get down here & that I'm looking for them??
Me: OK...I'll tell them if I see them that a cop is looking for them. Let me guess the girl's family called you.
    He shakes his head.
Me: If I see them would you like a call?
Him: If you see them doing something really stupid would you call?
He gives me a local number.
    Him: Thanks.
    Me: No problem officer.

I very seldon OC....but it was warm & I was headed into the woods. I thought for sure he was coming to break balls about the gun. He never mentioned it.....I guess he knows the law & reads his training updates. I drive thru Wind Gap all the time so I'm glad this encounter was positive.

I wonder if there really was "2 guys with a younger girl" or he just wanted to engage me in conversation to see what I was about.....without making it seem like he was focused on me. Either way he was cool about it & didn't F with me over the OCed gun.

He really was on a call about 2 older boys seen taking a minor female into the woods up there. Troy has common sense and isn't wound tight like alot of the locals. He's rather laid back.

OK. He seemed like a decent guy. The only person I saw on the trail that day was myself. They may have gone up the other side....south bound....on the other side of rt 33. I hope everything turned out ok for everyone involved.

What town do you live in?? PM me if you want.
