Re: Decoy or no decoy .... that is the question
I Know some turkey hunters who swear by them. I have tried them and really do not bother carrying them anymore unless I am hunting one of my fields. I have called gobblers in with decoys up and they never even looked at them. I think it is a lot of personal preference.

Re: Decoy or no decoy .... that is the question
I have never shot a turkey without a decoy. I have called them in but never close enough for a shot.
I am going to use decoys for the first time this year... Hopefully I will be posting Saturday night about the gobbler I stuck with an arrow.....When you are called a racist, it just means you won an argument with an Obama supporter.

Re: Decoy or no decoy .... that is the question
Never shot a turkey over a decoy until this year. I think if you're kinda exposed then use the decoy to take his attention off of you and his focus on the decoy. Be prepaired to convince him that the decoy is real. The turkey I shot this year hung up at 30 yards. Maybe because the "hen" he was locked onto never moved. I clucked and purred softly and it seemed to ease his mind a little. Enough to get him to come closer for the shot.
If you're well concealed do what you feel better doing. I always have one with me but the situation dictates it's use.
