Question Centre Co. requirement for IL residents.

Just wondering... is Sheriff Nau following the PA statute when he asks for an IL resident's FOID card?

    3. Illinois residents applying for Pennsylvania License to carry must furnish a photo copy of Illinois FOID card.
    The PA statute reads:

    (e) Issuance of license.--
    (1) ... A license shall not be issued to any of the following:

(ix) A resident of another state who does not possess a current license or permit or similar document to carry a firearm issued by that state if a license is provided for by the laws of that state...
And an IL FOID card is not a license to carry a firearm, but a license to possess or purchase:

The FOID card is required for any resident of Illinois to possess or purchase firearms.

    In my opinion, no.

At least his fee is now correct at $25 (for now )

You do have to send a copy of your FOID. My father sent his w/o and they sent his app back.

I do believe...my opinion of course...that he actually used this in place of an actual background check...

The FOID card isn't a license to carry. IL doesn't issue licenses/permits to carry, so Sheriff Nau shouldn't be asking for them.

Three states do not issue licenses or permits to carry at all. Vermont, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

This is to show that you can legally posess a firearm. Since IL does not issues LTCF you are using this as verification that you are permitted to have a Firearm thus the reason you need a LTCF.

I would get an AZ or Utah Permit rather than PA as you will get many more states and costs less $

Cost less? PA's LTCF is only $25, soon to be $20. How much is AZ or UT, plus the classes?
