Can anyone tell me more about PA Act 235
Here is the site covering the act http://www.lethalweapons.state.pa.us...te/default.asp
I came across this when looking over a security employment position. Has anyone gone through the procedure?Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it.

Basically, it's a course that allows you to carry a firearm for the purpose of employment...
I never did it, or known anyone who has, but from what I have heard from people online, is that it's not a very difficult course...

Re: Can anyone tell me more about PA Act 235
I have been certified for almost 15 years. It is a 40 hour BASIC course. I have a Private Detective Agency and my employees are required to have it as well. Not knocking the course, but don't attend it for the purpose of learning any high speed tactics. It is a BASIC course to measure one's proficiency to carry a firearm in an employment role. My personnel and I shoot more on my range on any given Sunday than is fired during the entire 40 hour course.
On the other hand, if you ever get into a Use of Force issue, you can testify that you have met the PA State Police requirement for armed professionals.

Re: Can anyone tell me more about PA Act 235
Did the course last year (40 hours). No frills. Covers Laws (past and present) and a little baton and handcuffing styles. You fire the shotgun, revolver, and then semi-auto handgun at various ranges in a timed drill.
No a big deal but required to PI/Detectives and Security personnel who carry on the job.
I agree more shooting and practice can be done in a Saturday then in the class.
My course was 3 weekends and included the Physical and Phycological tests. Cost is about $500 for all.
The sad part is PA doesn't recip. with NY (47hrs) or any others that I know of. So if you plan on being ON THE JOB in different states be ready to pay.
If you NEED it (or require it), GET IT.Al Zeller
