Default What am I doing wrong?

Went to the range today and ran about 90 rounds through my Glock P 26.

To be honest, I have not fired that gun in almost 8 years but I have a problem with the accuracy.

I was consistantly hitting at the 7 o'clock position.

It did not matter if I steady my arms on a rest or free standing, it was hitting low and to the left.

    What am I doing wrong?

Not enough finger on the trigger would be my guess. You might be pushing the trigger to the left as opposed to pushing it straight back.

West Chester has some decent advise, and the chart he posted is incredibly helpful.

Because you are hitting low, it sounds like you are also flinching/anticipating the recoil or jerking the trigger. The other thing I would recommend is to remember to slowly and steadily squeeze the trigger back (or apply steady rearward pressure, which ever one makes more sense to you). Just concentrate on the front sight and steadily bring the trigger back. The gunshot should surprise you and you should see the muzzle hop up. Keep doing that until after the sights return to target (follow through).

If neither of these things help, try printing this circle out and using it as a target... the resulting bullet holes will tell you what you need to work on.

Get some snap-caps for the gun, and practice dry-firing.

Watch where the front sight lines up, after pulling the trigger.

At the range, slip a few snap-caps in the magazines, with the live rds.

Do so, in a way where you won't know when the snap-cap is in battery.

Keep practicing this until the anticipation of firing goes away.

Keep your grip pressure consistent, whether dry-firing, or live firing!

Also, as a drill, throwing in a few snap-caps now and again, will help you with clearing the firearm.

    the firearm.

Experiment with finger placement on the trigger-either use the tip or pad of the trigger finger. Next try using the joint area and you might get a more consistent pull, that is how revolver shooters gain leverage over the trigger rebound spring-it is also less fatiguing to the wrist muscles.

The chart is excellent but is fore right handed people shooting a revolver, I do not know if one was ever designed during the era of semi-autos.

Let someone else shoot it and see if they are hitting near where you do. You can also put it on a rest and determine if the sights need to be adjusted. I have two G21's and neither hit to point of aim without some adjustments. It is sometimes better to sight your gun in according to your shooting style.

Used to be a place online to download and print these targets. Think it was Targetz.com

They had right and left handed ones.
