I think their 1911 looks like a lot of gun for the money and I'm anxious to get my hands on one at the NRA convention in 11 days.
If the barrel & bushing fit is good it'll be a great gun for this price range and will be worthy of adoption."Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal. "

looks like any other 1911 but with a MSRP of 799 it'll be interesting to see actual retail.

Re: new ruger sr1911 799.00
Supposedly the barrel and bushing are machined from the same piece of bar stock, and are kept together as a pair throughout the assembly process. Doesn't mean they can't screw it up, but shows that they're paying attention to detail.
I'm curious to know if the Novak sights use the standard Novak cut, or are like the Taurus PT1911 "brand name" sights (where Taurus apparently licensed the design, and the actual dimensions are different). If the SR1911 is what it purports to be (solidly made, well-equipped for defense without going over the line into mall-ninja territory), it may just be my next handgun purchase. Hopefully Ruger can avoid making the early customers beta testers like they have with the past few model introductions.

Jeff on gunblast.com did a review of the gun. Looks good.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

That is one beautiful 1911!

It's a 1911, that's why it's $800. How many good US made 1911 are under $800. I'll look for one in two years, after the rush is over and the bugs are out of it.
