    Default S&W 669

Just picked up this used S&W 669 at Surplus City. For some reason I never
even considered buying a older Smith & Wesson pistol. I don't know why.
The 669 is mostly Stainless Steel with a Alloy frame so it's not that heavy.
It's a compact double stack that's about the same size as my Beretta 9000.
A really nice pistol with a DA/ SA trigger.

Fits nicely in my Sig 220 Desantis holster.
Took it to the range and was amazed at how accurate it was. The grouping
pictured was from 30' standing. Shot three types of 9mm without a problem.
All in All a very nice gun.
From now on i'm going to take a harder look at all those older metal pistols that
I would normally just bypass. You never know what you'll find.

That is a great gun, good luck with it. I used one (1984 to 1991) on the police department until I replaced it with a 5906. I still have it and only issue I had was last year I eperienced several light primer hits, but then again, I have shot thousands of rounds through it over the years. I am going to have the springs checked and replaced. I now carry the Glock 26 because I carry under LEOSA and need to keep the magazine capacity at 10 in several states that I visit. I do still have it though and it sits in my safe beside the 5906 (and several other weapons that I used on the department)as I would never sell it.
    Best of luck with it.

Congrats on a fine Pistol, Those 2nd and 3rd. Gen Smiths were and are excellent Pistols that were highly underrated in their time.

I walked into my FRiends Gun store one day and he showed me a LNIB with papers 410S that some fool must have traded in on a plastic gun for $299, its now one of my favorite guns.

I have always loved the 649/669 series , i have my eyes out for one .

    Congrats.

I was at a local gun shop over the weekend that had one of those full size in black. I held it and it was surprisingly light for the size. Then his girlfriend showed me her compact version that she carries. I'll be looking for one of these at future gun booths!! Nice purchase OP!!
