1911 Beavertail grip safety part source
I am trying to buy a Beavertail grip safety that looks just like this. Can someone point me to where I can get one?

For most beavertails you have to cut the frame to a .250 radius......the one pictured looks like a drop in for an uncut frame. Ditto on Brownells....
There are three kinds of people in this world....them what's good at math and them what ain't.

The beavertail you are showing looks like it has been milled. Wilson Combat makes a beavertail grip safety that looks very similar. I believe the price is around $30 or so.

It depends on what brand of 1911 you have, different radius cuts. Try asking the question here. http://forums.1911forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18 Lots of knowledgeable folks.

Re: 1911 Beavertail grip safety part source
My father has a beavertail similar to that on one of his Springfields. It was an aftermarket Wilson part he picked up and installed himself. He bought the part back in the late 80's. The tail is angled downward rather than swooping upward like most other beavertails. It sucks. It makes for a very uncomfortable and unnatural grip as compared to a more conventional upward sweeping beavertail.

Re: 1911 Beavertail grip safety part source
I am trying to build a "brother" to the one I have and want 2 exactly alike. Like Ronin said, most Beavertail grip safeties have a horn that is upswept, I want a down swept one. The picture is my Colt Gold Cup 1911.
It is not easy to find this part.Hoplophobia is funny

Re: 1911 Beavertail grip safety part source
Seems to me that they just ground off the up swept part of the beavertail. Just a standard unit with the end ground off. Pull the hammer back and take a pic,,,, that should give us a point of reference.
George,
So many guns, so little money.
