OK time to clear this up... i know someone as been scratching there head, probably to the point of bleeding.

It is in fact not a silencer because there is still a sound when you fire he weapon. It is in fact a suppressor because it suppresses the sound of the weapon firing.

Sorry for not spelling suppressor right i knew it look weird. I don't like to call suppressors silencers because they do not silence the sound I blame that on movies for that.

To answer the question in the OP, No do not try to shoot the .22 through the suppressor designed for a 5.56. Feel free to shoot the .223 ammo though, as you can already see the discussion on why that is okay from the good description that was given.

If i buy a surpressor for my AR in 5.56 and drop a 22 conversion kit in it I am i able to use the surpressor or is it designed for 5.56? What kind of ammo do I use for a surpressor? This will be my first surpressor that i own and any other things i need to know about a surpressor will be great to know also

I've run my 556 suppressor on a 1:12 twist AR with subsonic 22lr ammo and conversion kit and it works just fine for some occassional shooting. Mostly because I don't want to remove the flash hider to thread on my 22lr can.

556 can is big, you'd probably have to shoot a lot of 22lr to have a negative impact on it.

Read the instructions and warranty info, when in doubt, call the manufacturer.
