    Default Flintlock vs. Muzzleloader hunting?

Hi everyone. This question is from a newbie so please excuse my ignore.

On the state game commission's website where it lists dates for the hunting season and bag limits ( http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal...=576240&mode=2 ) it distinguishes between a FLINTLOCK period for hunting deer and a MUZZLELOADER season for hunting deer. I was always under the understanding that a flintlock was one kind of muzzleloader? If not, then what is meant by "muzzleloader" in this context?

If anyone could shed light on the above, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

The early season you can use any type muzzleloader, ie in-line , percussion or flintlock.

The season after Christmas is Flintlock. During this season, you must use a real muzzleloader.

So then, if I understand you correctly, I can use a flintlock during both "muzzleloader" and "flintlock" season, correct?

A flintlock is indeed a muzzleloader.
However during the late muzzleloader season only flintlock muzzleloaders of certain calibers are lawful. So it's just referrd to as flintlock season.

The early season any muzzleloader is lawful provided it's the proper caliber.
