    ROFLMAO!

That thread did get out of hand, I guess I'm as much at fault as anyone through.

Sure, they no longer make them but they have everything the "modern" designs have today even though they were built 20 years ago.

If you want ultra premium, look for the Smith and Wesson Performance Center Shorty 9 also called the PC9. It is a hand built (by skilled craftsmen of the Performance Center) 12 shot compact 9mm with dovetailed sights (night sights easily bought) that will outshoot most of us. As much as I tried to like the Smiths they just don't fit me. The Cougars on the other hand (no pun intended) fit like a glove.

The nicest handgun I've shot so far are the S&W Performance Center 1 & 2. Both had trigger work done. Way to much for my budget through.

    Kahr K-9, and/or T-9.

I have both of them, and never looked any other compact full metal 9mm since then

    compact + metal = MK9
I like it very much but sometimes you just want more fingers around the grip.
That Cougar Compact looks very interesting. I'm feeling a roadtrip to Tanner's...

I had an old Star BM 9mm single action, very much like a 1911. Very good shooter and great grip...very heavy, too. Like a thinner ans smaller Commander.
They are hard to find now...no more imported.

You can get grip extention for your Mk9.
    Or get the "bigger" kahrs...

I would second Steve on the 3rd gen S&Ws even if they are not quite as comfortable as the Beretta. I have the 3914 and the 3953; the 3914 is my "go to" for ease of use and size. Though I would also recommend the CZ75B compact (also one of my pistols) and just above, there was a recommendation for the Star BM. I have the BKS ("Starlite) and it is again, all metal and accurate plus compact. Dave_n
