Default Got my CMP M1 Today!

Hey everyone, Will post pics when i finish cleaning all the grease out of it. Its a SA 624xxx. Finish looks great, Rebarreled in '52. Only problem is that when i was disassembling the rifle The top Handguard had a crack that ran through the middle (Will have to find a replacement one, Think if i asked CMP they would send me another one?). Also, the extractor spring and plunger is completely rusted and VERY brittle. Anyone know where i can find one of these?? (The Bolt is a PIA to put back together, especially w/o the tool). Also have a HRA Gas Port Nut im looking to trade for a SA One. Hopefully will post pics by the end of the week! This thing looks AWESOME!

A 6-digit SA... nice! Congrats on the new rifle. Numrich has the parts you're looking for or you can just try the CMP forums (maybe do a WTB there). As far as the hand guard it's worth a shot asking CMP. They seem to be very accommodating. Can't wait to see the pics.

The CMP is great. You can tell them you want a WWII or Korean War Garand or stock cartouche and they often provide such a Garand. Join the Garand Collectors Assoc. if you are not a member. They provide alot of info. I shot my Garands when I lived in Tallahassee and they were accurate at 300yards. We used to drive out to change targets. Such a great gun.
