I just picked up a press from a member here, going to tool up for .40sw, the prices are mad right now on the stuff, heck the local range is selling reloads at $16 a box
My dad purchased 1000 rnds of UMC 180 grain .40 for 97 dollars years ago. Luckily he didn't shoot it all so now I can.

I know peoples time is worth money. But my local range also sells reloads for 17. But i thought reloading was to save money as well as making your own loads. Has someone broke it down that if someone reloads what the cost of powder, primer and bullet for 50 rnds is? Do you save money reloading?

people usually dont factor in time when reloading. its just another hobby to supply for another hobby. they say it doesnt save money but allows you to shoot more.

cost per box saving appears to be about $4 on 9mm $6 a box on .40sw
Thats if you scrounge the brass from the range floor

Not a huge saving by any stretch, but I don't see prices going down anytime soon, so stocking up or loading a ton now, will pay off in the near future.

$400 for equipment, that's a lot, a whole new gun.
Considering that the 400 is a one time expense which will then cut your ammo costs in half - for as long as you shoot - it is a good investment.
I can reload (and do) .45 ACP for about $3.50/50. Better ammo than I can buy. What is the least expensive box of .45 200 grains LSWC that you can buy? 230 grain LRN? (those are a bit more per 50).

This should possibly go to reloading. But where are the best deals for .40 bullets.
I'm about to early inherit a full set of reloading equipment.

    40S&W??

fourth row down, $32.00 / 500. They are made locally, Hanover, PA.

Good guy to deal with, hits the major shows, resells through local gun shops, and will deal direct.

Good bullets, good price. I like em and shoot a lot of his products. If I simp-ly MUST have jacketed, there is precision delta.

Was in walmart this morning and they had winchester 100 packs of .40sw for $28
I bought the last three, was in Cabellas tonight, they had the same winchester ammo, for $19 for 50 ! :
Their prices are outragous at times.
They did/do have a really nice .50 bolt rifle in the cabinet though, I have to stay away from that place I really do

I've decided to keep my .40 pistols and just continue to pay out the wazoo for target ammo, oh well there are more expensive hobbies such as taking gold coins and tossing them into the ocean. I just dropped another $250 on a case of 1,000 165 gr TMJ's. Whoop dee doo, what a dagnabbit deal! Yeah right.
