Probably the last time he showered, which was March 30.

Stopped in at the Wawa on Dekalb Pike last night around midnight. The kid behind the counter saw my magazine and asked, "Are you a cop?"

    "Nope," I replied.
    "Concealed carry?"
"No, I prefer open carry." I swiveled a bit so he could see my 1911.
"Whoa, really??! You can do that here?!!"
"Yep - in fact, you don't even need a license in most cases."
    "Wow..."

As I was leaving, he remarked excitedly to his next customers, "Open carry...that's so awesome."

I had to go back in to get another couple of items I forgot about. A father/son duo, the former of which was completely deaf, were grinning ear to ear.

The older gentleman asked his son, "nine millimeter?"
I piped up, "No, .45 - I used to have a nine but sold it to a friend after I upgraded to this."

    They were both pretty stoked.

Always great stories, and always well told. That said:

My Taurus 1911 is blued and carried IWB with just the grip exposed above a black belt. I can kinda get most (generally clueless) people missing it.

*Your* Taurus 1911 is stainless and hanging out OWB. It takes an extra order of magnitude of clueless to miss yours. Sadly, that's not uncommon...

I'm the baddest motherfucker that walks this planet.

I have no idea what is in that pic except for the books. And it looks like something snowflakish might be going on. Nothing in my house is that clean.

... the next day, the kid from behind the counter tells his buddies, "Yeah, this guy was carrying his gun, right out in the open, at the WaWa, AND he didn't even need a license, whatever that was. Then he just drove off into the night.

Heyyyy, pass that joint, stop bogarting ... "

Not to be nitpicky, but it used to be stainless. It has a paintjob now, and is becoming a bit worn in some spots from holster and EDC wear. Here's when it was fresh.

    1. What color is the slide? I think I need to get both of mine done, as I'm starting to lose the fight with rust from sweating through my IWB.

    2. Are the controls the same color as the slide, or...?

The slide is Sniper Grey, and the controls are all done in a darker, blacker color. I got it done through my friend Wayne at Scorpion High Performance Coatings, and he comes HIGHLY recommended. Talk about the American dream - he took his enthusiasm for firearms and turned it into a trade. Give him a call and he will hook you right up.
