AR trigger fix?
Just got back from the range. I got her sighted in pretty good, I can keep the hits inside a 5" circle, at 100yds, but that gritty, stiff trigger sure makes it tuff to get bullseyes.
Do I dare polish and lube the surfaces that the trigger slides on?
Or should I just get a better trigger?

Re: AR trigger fix?
Here's the "quickie" trigger job for AR 15 type rifles.

I wouldn't suggest going beyond that level of modification unless;
A: You don't mind buying a replacement trigger / hammer / springs.
B: You already know what you are doing.
Most people will recommend one of the nice drop in triggers. These are typically not so cheap on an AR, but might be worth it if you just want to drop in a better trigger.
I like fooling with shit, so I'd pull the polishing compound out first thing and go at it. The trick is doing as little as you can to remedy your issue. Too much and you risk junking some parts, or a malfunctioning rifle.

Re: AR trigger fix?
I'd go with the LWRCi enhanced trigger or a Gisselle SSA.

Re: AR trigger fix?
Thanks guys, I'm going to try Asmodeus6's fix first, and go from there.

Re: AR trigger fix?
the really cool thing is that if you mess up you could wind up with a full auto rifle. rock and roll! atf might not find it cool but hey. all they can do is put you in jail. right?

Re: AR trigger fix?
Yes as Asmodeus6 said, be careful not to go to far on the stock trigger. They will malfunction and not work properly.
If your not satisfied with the results then I would suggest a Geisell SSA. Great trigger and I have not herd any bad reveiws even after thousands of rnds of use.

Re: AR trigger fix?
I just bought this: http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPS3.5
from JP. It's a reduced trigger spring set. I installed it and the trigger is probably half the weight of what it used to be. Haven't shot the gun yet to verify reliability, I didn't get it until Friday night. Cost $20 total with shipping I figured how could you go wrong. If money is not an issue a drop in trigger would be the way to go.Any vote for a third party is a vote for a Democrat. You are the enemy.

Re: AR trigger fix?
I'm not an expert, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn, but I don't think that's possible. Other parts are needed to go full auto, AFAIK.
I will test fire with only a couple rounds to be sure.
I don't really have an issue with the strength needed to pull the trigger, it's just that it's so "gritty". If you pull the trigger slowly, as you should, it sort of "stops and goes", is the best way I can describe it.
I'm not looking for a match grade trigger, just something that's smooth and repeatable.
