Default RZS Basic Shotgun, 12 June, Hollidaysburg, PA

    RED ZONE SOLUTIONS, LLC
    BASIC SHOTGUN OPERATOR

    12 June 2011

    Cost: $140

Duration: One day. 0900 until complete. 60-90 minute lunch break

    Location: Hollidaysburg Sportsman’s Club (http://www.hollidaysburgsportsmensclub.com/)

CHANGES FOR 2011: For a number of reasons, we find it necessary to make the following changes:

    1. Your class slot is reserved when we have received payment. Verbal commitments will not reserve your class slot.
    2. Due to club rules, insurance, and liability issues, no non paying/non shooting observers will be allowed to remain on site during classes.
    3. In the event that your carbine becomes inoperable, there will be a 12 guage available as a loaner gun. If you need to use the loaner gun, you will still need to provide ammo to finish the class. You will not be allowed to shoot a firearm that the RZS staff determines to be unsafe.
    4. We are offering a reduced course fee to students who have attended previous RZS courses. In order to standardize our book keeping, that is the only pricing incentive we are able to offer at this time.

Course Description: RZS Basic Shotgun Operator will familiarize students with the functioning and safe employment of the shotgun for defensive applications. Students will learn and perform a variety of skills to develop skills and confidence in the shotgun. Students will also learn proper maintenance of the shotgun, and the advantages and disadvantages of different shotguns and shotgun accessories. The primary focus is on real world defensive use of the shotgun, however, most of the techniques taught also apply to 3 gun and action type competitions. This course is designed around the pump action shotgun (Remington 870/Mossberg 500) but students may use other suitable shotguns.

Acceptable Firearms include but are not limited to:
    Remington 870
    Remington 1100/1187
    Mossberg 500/590
    Winchester 1200/1300
    Winchester SX2
    Benelli M1/2/3/4

Note #1: You do not need a military/police style shotgun to participate in this course. Hunting type shotguns may be used, however we highly recommend removal of the magazine plug. Also, we recommend an improved cylinder choke. If you have a shotgun with a tighter choke, it’s not a problem, but you won’t be able to conduct the slug shooting portion of the course. Side saddles are not required.

Note #2: All shotguns must function safely. For many of you, this will be the hardest you’ve run your shotgun. Please do not bring a firearm with known functioning issues, as this will be detrimental to both you and the rest of the course.

Note #3: Only bring ammunition that YOU KNOW functions in your firearm.
