Default Moving to new house in NJ with Firearms in car

I’m moving to PR of NJ (Long Valley) next week because of major health problems and old age (close to my two sons and their families)

Assuming I adhere to NJ firearm transport regulations, I believe the NJ firearms law, cited below, allows legal transport of firearms from my old residence in PA to my new residence in NJ.

    e. Nothing in subsections b., c. and d. of N.J.S.2C:39-5 shall be construed to prevent a person keeping or carrying about his place of business, residence, premises or other land owned or possessed by him, any firearm, or from carrying the same, in the manner specified in subsection g. of this section, from any place of purchase to his residence or place of business, between his dwelling and his place of business, between one place of business or residence and another when moving, or between his dwelling or place of business and place where such firearms are repaired, for the purpose of repair. For the purposes of this section, a place of business shall be deemed to be a fixed location.

    Is my assumption correct?

    Thanks - Steve

Technically yes, but you better have some written proof of your new address with you, and you better be going directly there with NO unnecessary deviations or stops AND you better be sure whatever firearms you bring in are NJ Compliant !

Pistol mags 15 rounds or less
NO "Hi Cap" Evil Black Rifle mags PERIOD
Any EBR's cannot have more then two "evil " features, such as threaded barrel, defined pistol grip, bayonet lug, folding or retractable stock, etc.

Just Google the name Brian Aitken/Mt Laurel NJ if you dont already know about it and want to learn what happens to someone that even goes so far as to call the State Police Firearms Unit to get advice, complies with ALL State Firearms Laws and still gets sentenced to a 7 year stretch ! Granted it is later commuted, but still.................

Want to rent your house ?? I've been trying to escape the hell hole of The Peoples Socialist Republic of NJ for almost 5 years now. Sorry your situation demands you move to NJ.

Unloaded and transporting during moving between old and new residences is allowed. Make sure it is a direct route and stay the speed limit!

I wish you better health and all the best in your future

If what I stated is incorrect, someone will correct me

Thanks a bunch for the replies!

As far as renting the PA house; no can do because it's been sold. Based on the realator's advice, I listed it for $179,000 about 50 thousand less than it's peak value several years ago. It was first listed on a Wednesday; three couples viewed it on Sunday. Two of the couples made offers of 175K and 179K. I accepted the lower bid because the realtor was concerned about the financial situation of the high bidder. Essentially the house was sold in 5 days.

If your a handy guy, you can get some really great deals on bank foreclosures in Monroe county PA. The trashed ones can be as low as $30,000. Don't look at anything in a gated community.

    Thanks again - Steve

If you are not in the rush, then pick the desirable area (probably you need one with better schools) and monitor the realtor.com. Given the economy something sweet will pop up rather sooner than later. If you are in the rush, then I have 2bdr townhome for rent in Central Bucks school district. Very gun friendly area.

    Sorry for the OT.

To the OP - I'm way less familiar with the NJ gun laws, than Son of the Revolution, but judging by the several precedents I've learned about - try to follow the laws as close to the letter as possible. And NO STOPS while you are moving guns from your old place to the new one.
