Pizza Shop Robbed; Owner Now Wants Workers Armed

CHARLEROI, Pa. -- The owner of a North Charleroi pizza shop said his workers will begin carrying weapons after the business was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday.

Double-M Pizza on Pennsylvania Avenue was robbed Saturday at about 10:45 p.m., police said.

No injuries were reported, but the owner said he doesn’t want to take any more chances so he’s urging his employees to arm themselves while working.

A sign in front of the business reads, “We Now Carry.”

Police haven’t identified a suspect in the robbery and are asking anyone with information to contact them.

Wow, 10 minutes from where I grew up. If I get severed from my current job, I may urge my Italian heritage to come out and start making some Pizzas!

just saw that report too. wonder if other business' will consider the same action. it will be interesting to see what customers think, i would bet regulars would be ok with it but might hurt new ones (if they are not pro 2nd).

I used to work for Pizza Hut part time for some extra cash while in school. If I had my carry back then, you bet it would have been on me.

Against company policy? My policy is to survive.

All well and good, though, are these employees going to seek training? Are they going to versed in the law? I mean just because someone robs the pizza guy doesn't give them the right to shoot. Robbed at gun point may be a different story. But my concern would still be misinformed or uneducated employees may be in for a rude awakening if lethal force is ever used. If that happens will the pizza joint fund the legal battle or hang the employee out to dry?

In theory it would be a good idea though I can see a huge downside to this "promotion" or "urge".
