FFL transfer fees???
I bought a Beretta 92FS on the internet to give to my son for joining the Air Force.
It's the first time that I bought a gun from the internet (GunBroker)
I had it shipped to the range that I have a membership to and have purchased a total of about 12 to 14 guns from and a bunch of other stuff this past year alone.
I got a phone call from them telling me that my gun came in. I went to pick it up and do the paperwork. When all was finished, they charged me $50.00 just to do the paperwork.
I think $50.00 is a little steep. I would like to think that I am a good customer. I can see if I wasn't a member or it was the first time that I had purchased something.
I know that it's my fault. I should have checked before I had the gun sent to my gun range - but I didn't think that they would rape me. They didn't even kiss me first
Oh well, live and learn.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest
So - my questions are,
How much do you pay to do FFL transfers?
Where is a good place near or in Montgomery County to get them done?
Thanks

Re: FFL transfer fees???
$50 is a clear indication they don't want your transfer business.
Shops that see the value of "getting you in the door" charge in the $20-$25 range.

.
I'm guessing Classic Pistol ?
$30 at my dealer last time I had a transfer.
Now that I'm thinking about it, could be Target Word too... either is too high.

Re: FFL transfer fees???
I would have to guess Classic Pistol too. I like them a lot , just not for FFL transfers only.
It seems to be a pretty well kept secret, but Cabelas in Hamburg will do an FFL transfer for $20 or $25 (can't remember which, it was about a year ago). They are not in Montgomery county of course, but if you needed other stuff it might justify the drive.
Closer to home, I would try Seneca Arms. I think John (the owner) also charges $20 or $25 for a transfer. His shop is in Montgomery county, details in this thread. His handle is "Seneca Arms Co. Inc." on this forum if you want to PM, but it's probably better to call. I don't know how often he logs on to the forum.

I had a gunsmith just outside of Harrisburg do an FFL transfer for $3 (PICS fee only) earlier this year, but that only made sense because I happened to be out that way anyhow. It was funny because he actually had the lowest price for the gun too.Last edited by Vortex; December 19th, 2007 at 01:59 AM. Reason: Split single quote into two quotes for clarity
