    Angry FFL transfer fees???

I bought a Beretta 92FS on the internet to give to my son for joining the Air Force.
It's the first time that I bought a gun from the internet (GunBroker)

I had it shipped to the range that I have a membership to and have purchased a total of about 12 to 14 guns from and a bunch of other stuff this past year alone.

I got a phone call from them telling me that my gun came in. I went to pick it up and do the paperwork. When all was finished, they charged me $50.00 just to do the paperwork.

I think $50.00 is a little steep. I would like to think that I am a good customer. I can see if I wasn't a member or it was the first time that I had purchased something.

I know that it's my fault. I should have checked before I had the gun sent to my gun range - but I didn't think that they would rape me. They didn't even kiss me first
    Oh well, live and learn.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest

    So - my questions are,
How much do you pay to do FFL transfers?
Where is a good place near or in Montgomery County to get them done?
    Thanks

$50 is a clear indication they don't want your transfer business.

Shops that see the value of "getting you in the door" charge in the $20-$25 range.

MY guy Sam, even tho he wants the sale, will charge me $25.00 for the transfer.

    $50.00 is real high!

    Xringshooter only charges $20.

    .

    I'm guessing Classic Pistol ?

$30 at my dealer last time I had a transfer.

Now that I'm thinking about it, could be Target Word too... either is too high.

most stores i have talked to will charge 40-50. I dont know exactly where you are but check out http://www.gunrunnersofpa.com/ or look around and you can get much lower fees. The one range I used to go to before I joined PMSC charged that much, but that pretty much kills the incentive to save a few bucks online after shipping and the added risk of not knowing what you are getting.

Boy, I just don't understand that, the FFL doesn't really have to do anything except call the PSP, punch in a few numbers and write down the number they give you. Basically it's free money. I, personally, don't see any reason for charging $50 unless they are trying to discourage transfers. Guess what folks, it's a fact of life now, people are buying from different places. I use the concept that if I charge a reasonable amount, people will remember this the next time they need something and may go contact me to buy their next gun/ammo/cleaning supplies/etc. If not and they order and have me do the transfer, then I make $20 (actually $18 because I have to give $2 to the PSP for the PICS fee).

I've purchased two guns from fellow board members here. On both occasions we have met at different shops in order to do the transfers, and on both occasions I have been charged $50.00, and yes I feel that I got raped!! There is no reason to charge that much, no reason at all!
