Very nice pistol, looks like it's very compact. What are your thoughts on the 9x18 round? I always partial to the 7.62x25mm round in Russian pistols and never understood why the Com-Block countries dropped that round for the 9x18 Makarov.

Nice, I represent 9x18 with my CZ82. Nice round, especially if you handload. I load 95 grain Hornady XTP's chronographed at 1100 fps with room to work up safely to around 1200. Got some 93 grain cast bullets on the way, and considering purchasing, and loading up some 116 grain LFN to around 1000 fps.

    Very nice Awesome reliable shooters.

    Bulgarian, East German, Russian, Chinese?

I've been looking to get a hold of an East German Mak. Love em, just trying to come across one at a price I like

Nice! I have a Russian Makarov, and it's easily one of my favorite pistols. I still can't get over how incredibly accurate it is. Sorry for crappy cellphone picture, LOL.

The 9x18, in my opinion, leaves a lot to be desired for militarty use, but it's a nice personal protection pistol. The round does much better with modern hollow point ammo. With the right loads, it's between the 380acp and 9x19.
The one in the picture is my Bulgarian Makarov made in 1988. That one has more wear on it. I also have a 1960 East German Makarov, but I hate to holster and unholster it. I don't want to put wear on that one. The East German made Maks are the nicest, typical german fit and finish.

Now I understand. I guess in a self defense role you're not going to find many enemies in armor, plus I bet ammo is cheap.

I came across a CZ that melted in my hand but I was reluctant to deal with finding 9x18. Your Mak is good looking but what about the cost and ability to find the ammo. I noticed a box or two @ the show today . Maybe I am not really looking for it but I like the way thoses size pistols feel.
