Re: Why doesnt Colt make Pythons or Anacondas anymore?
One simple word: Cost!
These would be limited editions and if the current price of SAA's is anything to go by, look at well North of $2K.
In addition, these would be hand-tooled operations as who would want an MIM version of an Anaconda or Python?
Just look at the number of people, myself included, who will not buy a regular S&W revolver made after the middle of the 1980s due to the lack of machinist fitting, and then look at the premium justifiably charged by the S&W PC shop for hand-fitted pistols and revolvers. Dave_n
PS why do you think that the large (and small) companies moved to Combat Tupperware?

^^^^ Yep. To do it right would be so expensive that the potential market would be very limited. It's just not cost-effective anymore because most people want low cost products.

loves me some Pythons!
Cost and lack of demand are my guess as to why the Python is no longer made.
It's too bad as the demand for a Python had increased the cost of buying them to the point of ridiculous.
Certain models of the real S&W's (pre 1970) aren't too far behind.

Re: Why doesnt Colt make Pythons or Anacondas anymore?
Cost. In 1977 or 78 I bought a new 4 inch blue Python for $320.00. Go figure for inflation what it would cost now. It was a lot of money then and I waited for it to come in but don't remember how long. I am sure I forgot about the price and the long wait by the time I finished the first box of ammo. It was the finest handgun that I ever owned.
