Question Is this revolver drop safe?

I sometimes carry this revolver. It is an older S&W model 60. Unlike my newer S&W model 686, this one has the firing pin built into the hammer. I'm concerned that if the gun is dropped and the back of the hammer hits a solid surface, it might push the firing pin into the cartridge and cause it to discharge. I've been carrying it with the top chamber empty, since I'm not sure if it is safe otherwise.

Yes, perfectly safe. In your last picture, that piece of sheet metal up on the frame is a hammer block.

Thanks! Looking closely, I can now see that piece move downward when I pull the hammer back, and get back up when I release it without holding the trigger down. Guess this gun will get an extra bullet today.
