    Default saiga conversion?

just wondering if any one has personally done this. I know there is plenty of info out there but its fact not opinion.

my 2 questions are 1) how difficult is it to do a hi cap mag conversion + pistol grip/trigger relocation and 922r convert.
    2) is it worth investing the time to do it vs. buying an ak that cost about the same?

I just want a quality gun thats decently accurate. and I'm not sure the wasr's are what I'm looking for. but I'm also not lookin to spend $700+ on firearm I can got to any 3rd world country and buy for $50 bux.

Wellll.......hopefully I'll have a pic of mine up sometime. Right now I'm at about $450.00, I think. The rifle cost me 305.00. At the moment it's pretty nice and I have no metalworking experience whatsoever. The next thing I plan on doing is having my front sight base replaced with an AK-74 style so that I can take muzzle brakes...

I do plan..God willing, to buy an Arsenal someday though. They're just really nice and I'd like to have a factory converted rifle. I do not regret going with the conversion route though, because I feel I've learned a lot and could do it even better next time. It's an ongoing project.

It's actually a pretty easy job. Some of the Saigas already have the holes in the right place for the pistol grip, etc. The only thing you have to do to use regular AK Mags is install a bullet ramp which you can buy or easily make. There's lot's of good links online, ar15.com has a step by step guide in the AK or Saiga boards. I'm going to do a Saiga 12 gauge very soon. Tapco sells most if not all of the 922 parts needed. Just their magazines are 3 parts if you use them. Go for it!

Oh it was a gunbroker deal. I would usually "buy now", but I decided to keep my eye on an auction and I came out on top. I'd say now if you can find one for under 350..

I have a ton of info that I pulled from a couple sites. I did not personally write it myself but I collected it for the purpose of converting a Saiga as well. I just checked and it appears as though the file is over 5 mb. That may be a bit much for some e-mail but if you can handle receiving it, let me know and I'll e-mail it your way.

Oh that's sweet. I'm going to the valleyforge gun show next weekend im hoping to find one there for a good price. I've been looking around at local shops at ak's and all I found is cia junk for the cost of what it would be to convert a saiga

    7.62x39 and about 6 12 gauges

    So...got a specific problem?

For me the roughest part was to tap the drilled hole. However fast "slow" is to you, cut that speed in half. Use lube and clean out the tap often.

Was it worth it? For me yes I got exactly what I wanted. But I also enjoyed working on it.
