Default These guns were bought in different states..

One, I bought in 1990 (+,-) in Florida. The other was gifted to me by my father recently. He bought years ago in Virginia. I have a CC permit. Can I legally concealed carry these two pistols, though they are not registered in Pa?

If not what do I need to do to rectify the situation so as I can cc them?

    Thanks.

Yes, PA does not (officially) have a gun registry.

What he said. But that does not mean they will not hassle you.

As said, you are fine to carry them, but if a cop ever goes to check the ownership of them, you could be jacked up for a while until it's straightened out.

You could, if you really wanted to get them into your name, go to a FFL gun dealer and ask them to do a transfer to you.

Again, not legally required but it is an option for you... if you so desire.

    Carry them, it's legal.

If you are pulled over, accosted, or harassed by just about any state or local LEO in PA, they may very likely confiscate them, because it eludes their small brains that a legally owned firearm would not be in their illegal registry. It's then on you to get them back.

My advice would be to (if you have them) keep your Form 4473 on the purchased one. I'm not sure what you'd do on the gifted one.

What he said. There's no gun registry in PA.

Taken from the "Law" section of this very website.

    # Do I have to register my firearms in Pennsylvania?

No, in fact in Pennsylvania it is actually illegal for any government or police agency to keep a registry of firearms per 18 Pa.C.S. § 6111.4 (Registration of firearms). If you legally possess bring your firearms into the Pennsylvania or come into possession of the firearms legally, no further action is required.

It should be noted however that all transfers of handguns in Pennsylvania are required to go through the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) and as such the Pennsylvania State Police keep a "Sales Database" of all handguns purchased within the Commonwealth. While almost any casual observer can see that this database clearly violates the spirit of 18 Pa.C.S. § 6111.4 (Registration of firearms), in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed with the Pennsylvania State Police that because the database is not a complete record of all handgun ownership (as people bringing handguns into the state do not have to register them), it does not.

I can understand why this topic continues to come up with all the different opinions and lack of facts in the general public. What I can't get is that suggestions like the one HiredGood (no offense HG) keeps coming up. If you procured your firearms legally, then they're legal to use and carry. (Please note, I didn't say buy as they can be gifted etc.)

So, if you got them legally and use them legally, stop playing into the crap illegal database and suggesting that we 'register' our guns by transferring them to ourselves to absolutely no reason.

I said that it was his option to transfer them to himself to possibly avoid any hassle... as I believe our learned fellow forum member here GunLawyer001 has suggested in other thread(s).

No, it's not right to "play into their crap"... but I was pointing out both sides of the issue to the OP to let him decide
