FNP-45 USG review
So this is my first review of any sorts. It was requested by another member. My knowledge is limited and so is my experience compared to all the great gun minds on here, but I will give it a go. Please be gently in your Bashing...
I will break it down into categories:
Ergonomics/Feel
The gun its self has a large frame but not overly cumbersome and easily handled. Purchased new comes with 2 back Straps one Flat one curved. Personally I like the curved puts my finger in perfect trigger position(My hand is 8" from base of palm to tip of Middle Finger) The flat back strap could give the smaller hand shooter that little extra needed reach. Weight feels balanced and feels natural in my hand. Grip has good stippling provides sure grip. The safe/Decocker is positioned well for easy use.
Functioning
To date I have fired 400ish rounds without a single FTF or FTE. I have fired 100 WWB 235 gr. 200 Fiochhi 235gr and 100 Various HP. I do not expect this to change in the future but will update if needed. The FNP feels well made and tight gun. The Mags function flawlesly I have 3 15 round mags and 2 14 and have cycled all without any issues. Ejects at about a 45* angle landing about 4-6 feet back so no issue with spent casings. The decocker is a nice feature to have providing a little extra safety.
Trigger
Is DA/SA I have to get used to the DA trigger with most of my Handgun experience is with SA I am still getting used to the trigger. As far as it's DA compared to others it is smooth and has a good pull weight.
Sights
I like the stock sights provided with the exception of the rear sight is a little wide which takes some getting use to. Personally I will be putting Night Sites on but do not have any complaints with stock sites
Recoil/Firing
The perceived recoil is minimal in the 45 world the large frame handles it well and allows for quick firing. It is an overall good feel and balance not and awkward to fire.
Overall
Pros:
I am very happy with the FNP-45 USG it is a well made solid tight gun. Provides 15+1 of 45 which is hard to look past. With Average or above hands should feel comfortable. Comes with 3 Mags(1-15,2-14)from factory. Functions flawlessly eats everything I put in it.
Cons:
Not for the small handed. Not many holster options, though I have been seeing more lately. Other than that I can not complain about anything yet. I love it.
Like I said I am young and not as experienced as most, but thats why I am here and hopefully this helps a little

Re: FNP-45 USG review
Nice review and great gun (I have one as well). I especially like the de-cocker/safety, allowing it to be carried cocked and locked or de-cocked/hammer down. For overall ergonomics, reliability, and capacity, it's a winner.

Re: FNP-45 USG review
How many mags did it come with? Were they the 15s or 14s?

Re: FNP-45 USG review
My FNP .45 was my first .45 and I'm crazy about it. She is very accurate with the factory combat sights and the 15 round and 2 14 round mags provides awsome firepower.
Your review was very good and I wish you much luck with her.

Excellent review. Thanks.
What's that "key" thing in your picture (on the table at the muzzle end)?Last edited by sean79; March 20th, 2011 at 01:09 PM.

Re: FNP-45 USG review
That will be my next .45 when I'm ready to buy. Such a great gun. The only gripe I have is that the 15-round mag looks like it's wearing a giant orthopedic shoe. Other than that it pushes all the right buttons with me.
