Default Beaver or no beaver? Is that a question?

Quick question for those with Sig P229's: some P229 models come with a beavertail while others do not. Which do you prefer and why?

I'm thinking of trading in my P239 for a P229, but not sure if a beavertail is something to look for in a pistol. In either case, the P239 (and by extension, the P229 that I might trade in for) will be for concealed carry purposes.

Oh I really like Beaver, I mean I really do! Oh wait you mean on the magazine. I prefer shooting with the beaver tail because it gives me support for my pinky finger. But I don't carry with it because it cuts into my flesh. So there you go different answers for different folks.

One thing to consider with a beaver-tail is that it allows a high & consistent grip. This helps recoil control. Your hand is high the beaver-tail spreads the recoil over more area = less ouch.

Yes for normal shooting and carry, no for CC, it snags on things. They do keep the web from bleeding.

Beaver tail's look good on a P229, but other than that, I think they serve little purpose. I have a 229 & a 220 and I have yet to get hammer bite. I don't ever recall anyone else getting it either.

    Now if you're talking a 1911............

i think the beaver tail looks horrible on the SIG pistols except for their line of 1911's. there's no rational purpose for the beaver tail on any SIG pistol other than SIG adding it for cosmetic reasons.
