Shooting on your property?
A friend of mine lives in Port Matilda (10 min outside of State College). He took his .357 in his back yard and was shooting at a tree.
I told him I was pretty sure that its illegal.
Is it illegal? And, Where would I find that information?

does he live in the town or outside of town in a rural area?
i live outside of Newport in a rural area and shoot all the time in my back yard. perfectly legal. you usually can't shoot within city limits or something like that. check with local PD.

Hey! Port Matilda?
I used to live there. Life Member of the Sportsmen's Club.
I think safety zone rules apply.
No more downtown shooting.
Ah! The good old days.

Around here if your outside the city limits the townships make rules about it. I shoot out in my buddies field and I know the township officially prohibits it. But the local police know about it and don't have any problem with it. So I shoot.

Re: Shooting on your property?
Why would tell someone that something (anything, not just gun related) was illegal if you're not sure yourself?
To answer your question: the discharge of a firearm is not regulated by the UFA. So, technically, it's perfectly legal unless there's a county or municipal ordinance against it. In other words, whether this is illegal or not depends on the county or town you live in, and would require you to read through the local and county ordinances."Political Correctness is just tyranny with manners"
