Bolt close problems on my Mosin M39
Picked up a Mosin M38 at Valley Forge over the weekend. I've noticed something peculiar about this rifle in that about 1/5 of the rounds are a bit harder to chamber than others. Most of the rounds chamber easily, but about 1 in 5 I have to give the bolt handle a smack to get it to close.
I replaced the bolt with one from another Mosin and the problem disappears. I've noticed the extractor on the suspect bolt doesn't seem as strong as my other Mosin, I can move this one with my finger with relative ease, while the other one seems more stiff. Any ideas what's going on here?
*edit It's a Mosin M38, not the Finnish M39Last edited by afultz075; April 6th, 2011 at 12:29 AM.
