Where to find a 8mm Mauser?
Hey wondering if anyone has any insight to where I would be able to find an ecellent Mauser in 8mm. Any country of origin would work. I'm not looking for a collectable so big money is off the table.
Thanks

There out therem let your fingers do the walking...
I know that Dunham's usually has the Mitchell Mausers, but you said no big bux, and the "restified" Michells aren't cheap.
Gander Mtn in Moon usually has one or two, seen a "sanitized" capture-K98 on the used rack about 2 weeks ago.
Ace sometimes has several "Mausers" on their back wall.
Try calling Island Firearms, I know he once had a Czech 8mm, but it was NOT cosmetically pretty. I'm a sucker for cosmetics, I overpaid on a gorgeous 1943 Carcano calvary carbine complete with solid cartouche as I never seen a Carcano that wasn't beaten or bubba'd or both.
I have a cosmetically sweet Yugo M48 I'd maybe consider selling someday, but - after a thorough cleaning, I can see that the previous owner left the barrel get fuzzy after shooting corrosive thru it. I'm hoping a few rounds will make it sweet again.
Good luck, took me a bit to trip over my M48, you'll get one.

You must pay attention to the man behind the curtain. Or you will loose.

FYI - Passed by GMtn today; they no longer have the sanitized kapture K98. Someone snagged it. They still have 2 7mm Mauser variants.

Re: Where to find a 8mm Mauser?
The best place to get one is at the valley forge gun show. At the last show, they had at least several crates at one vendor that were russian captures. You could hand pick which ever you one. I of course dove right in there looking for one that didnt have the nazi markings ground off and i found one. There were several though. 325 a peice. Yes i shoot the hell out of it and it shoots pretty consistant groups. Im sure you can find cheaper yugoslavian models. I failed to read where you didnt care what origin it is from

Re: Where to find a 8mm Mauser?
Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll try to make it back to the Valley Forge show next month.
I'm not tied to any particular model. I'd like German but don't want to pay top dollar, cheaper and shootable is what I want.
I'm going to take a look locally to see if I find anything. Thanks.

Dunham's usually has Yugo 24/47s in stock at a decent price. Typically they're mixmasters but sometimes you can find one that's matching or mostly matching. Not the prettiest but they're good rifles with a nice action. There's also Allegheny River Arsenal in Verona. They'll have a better selection but the prices will also be a bit higher.
