    Default No Weapons Policy

I just today learned the place I go to for physical therapy (Occupation & Spine Specialists) has a No Weapons Policy. I actually learned about it because my therapist was discussing it with another therapist while working on me. Apparently someone complained about an off duty police officer showing up there with.....his taser. I didn't get into it too deeply with her because it wasn't the time nor place and she couldn't make any changes anyway, but I learned that the person who dealt with that didn't want to post signs advertising no weapons - the irony. There are absolutely no signs anywhere; I checked around when I first went, although I didn't ask anyone specifically what the rules were. I'm not surprised, though, to learn that they do ban all weapons.

Although I'm pretty confident it'll be futile, I'm thinking of maybe writing a letter to them explaining the laws, discussing self-defense, and explaining how I can't support them and now it's a lose-lose situation: I'm losing the benefit of PT and they're losing my business. I understand that in the end, they're a private business on private property and have every right to have an asinine policy like that.

Was the owner or anyone else with legally recognized control over the place present?

Well as long as theres no signs I say forget what you heard and continue carrying until they tell you to leave. Your not breaking the law by going in there with a gun so why bother letting them know especailly if there too lazy to post signs.

    I'm no lawyer.....

but if it ain't written, it ain't posted, it ain't policy.

Them saying there is a 'no weapons' policy is like them saying they've seen aliens in their attic.

Unless there's something concrete to look at, it's just something they're saying.

If you write a kind, respecting letter educating the owner that if no guns are allowed then only criminals will have guns in their establishment since he is advertising that the building is unarmed, it might work. People who make decisions like that are ignorant of the consequences and losing your business isn't the consequence it's advertising that this building is unarmed. Threatening to go somewhere else wont do anything but harm your position. If you feel that strongly about not going there, then just stop but write a kind letter without threats. Right now the decision maker thinks your business is exactly the business he wants to lose so you'll totally lose the intent of your letter threatening him because again you're just a threat to him anyway.

Point out that not ONE mass murder in this Country has happened in anyplace but a No Gun Zone.

In case they do actually post a sign:

    http://paopencarry.org/no-guns-no-money-cards
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

No, like I said it was just the two therapists having a discussion over my back (literally). Then when he left, I prodded my therapist for some more information. AFAIK no one there knows I carry since I CC there, change in the locker room and lock it up with a padlock while I'm actually being treated. I kind of assumed they would have an issue with it, and honestly I'm not a hard-core OC type....yet. Besides, I do need their help so I guess in the end I'd only be hurting myself more.

That's kind of what I was thinking, just continue as I have been until otherwise officially informed. So long as I CC well enough, no one will be the wiser, anyway, right?

Good points. I think it's in my best interest to stay out of it for now.

This is overwhelmingly true, but "not ONE?" Seems I heard of one in a parking lot out west not too long ago. Making a statement like this is setting yourself up for the obvious response.

Well I guess my experience says that if what I say to a liberal has been the case a million times and the liberal knows of one case where the argument isn't true then I'm a liar. Yea I guess you have a potential point there. LOL
