Re: UTAH CFP COURSE, ALLENTOWN, PA (LEHIGH COUNTY) MARCH 26, 2011
I've been interested in this class for a while, and this one is the closest to me so far, so hopefully I can make it. I am interested in an Arizona permit as well, so I had some questions about the live fire option. I see on the PDF it says $40, but what is included in that? I'm assuming we would bring our own guns, but what about ammo, targets, etc., and if we need to bring those as well, how much is needed? Also, where will the live fire be taking place, and is there a time frame for that portion?
I'll be checking my schedule this week, but hopefully I, and possibly a few friends, will be able to attend.

The 40.00 dollars for the optional live fire includes student manual, 2 sets of fingerprints for Arizona, targets, range time, and certificate of completion. Ideally an individual should bring a firearm they intend to carry but I will have 22 caliber target pistols available for those not owning or possesing a firearm.

Since I am a NJ resident, would I be able to carry in Philly with a non-resident UT permit?

Yes except school zones. Without a PA LTCF you are technically not allowed to carry in school zones according to the Federal Gun Free School Zones Act.
From Title 18 U.S.C §922(q)
(A) It shall be unlawful for any individual knowingly to possess a firearm that has moved in or that otherwise affects interstate or foreign commerce at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school zone.
(B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a firearm—
(i) on private property not part of school grounds;
(ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;

If you also possess an NJ Carry Permit you could also apply for a PA Non Resident LTCF to cover the school zone portion.
I am not sure if there is any case law yet about carrying in a school zone with a permit whom PA has reciprocity with.

I have a better chance of being the next president than getting my NJ CCW permit. Philly passed a new ordnance, just wanted to make sure the UT permit will be accepted there. im not interested in the big house.
