    Default Firearms and Hidden Caches?

The most valuable item I can think of to bury in a hidden cache for a SHTF scenario would be firearms and spare ammo. With any kind of disaster, one of the first things I see happening is the national guard coming after our firearms. The location of the caches would have to be along my escape route, and hence not on my property. Obviously, I also wouldn't want anyone else to know the locations. I would want to follow all current laws. I would never want to file off a serial number or anything else that could leave me defenseless in federal prison. I was curious if anyone knows the legal repercussions of caching firearms and ammunition.

I imagine it's fine as long as it is on your property.

    I AM NOT A LAWYER.

    THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE.

A safety deposit box or storage unit would be a good cache location.

A safety deposit box might be hard to get to if SHTF. A storage unit would be much easier, but storage units get burglarized regularly if they aren't right along the road and well lit, or have some other security measures like cameras.

I would never bury guns on someone else's property. Ever. I'm not sure of the legal ramifications, but I just wouldn't do it.

So you bury it in the woods and someone digs it up by accident and they track it back to you.

If they've confiscated guns, what does it matter if you have contraband with or without a serial number.

Hey, just make one. There's no requirement to put a serial number on a homemade gun.

An often-used phrase regarding caching firearms - "If it's time to bury them, it's time to use them."

As far as the legality of burying firearms, I'm not aware of any legal prohibitions, assuming you're doing it on your own property.

I was talking about not wanting to break any laws before the guns are confiscated .

That doesn't make any sense. You bury them in case you will need them later.
