    I could tell you...

You buy the drinks, I'll bring my gun, and we'll discuss it.

in PA, it is not true.

PA has no laws saying you cannot carry where alcohol is served.

some other states do have such laws, so your friend may be mistaken because of that. he may have heard someone from, say, texas, say that you cannot carry in a bar...which is true in TX...but not in PA.

I am not aware of any such law that would prevent an LTCF holder from carrying in a place that serves alcohol in Pennsylvania.

With that said, alcohol and firearms don't mix well, and the the owner of said bar would be within his rights to ask you to leave if he knew you were carrying and did not like that.

Ultimately it is up to the individual to be a safe, responsible firearm owner.

No laws against carrying in a place that serves alcohol, BUT, if the property owner or a representative of the property owner doesn't like it and asks you to leave, the law says that his private property rights trump your Second Amendment rights. That being said, he can ask you to leave with your firearm and not come back with it, (or not come back at all, it's his property and he has the right to refuse access or service to anyone), but that's his right as a property owner, it's not based on any law that prohibits carrying a firearm in a place where alcohol is sold, distributed or consumed.

There is no rule against carrying in bars. But I think the general feeling is. Bar+Alcohol+Plus Idiot= Liquid Courage, and may try to test you, or in my case. Found out I was carrying and started a fight with me. He was all of 6'4 290 to my 6'2 220. So I did the only thing sensible, ignored him and went back to drinking my coca cola.

I do not drink when I am out, I am mostly the DD and thats because it is almost impossible for me to get lost lol. But that could be a reason.

Simple rule the more trendy the bar the bigger the gun you need to carry.
Local watering hole where everyone knows everyone, you only need a pocket gun.
