Tokarev
Got my C&R and itching to buy another toy. Just bought a cz-82 from cdnn but they don't ship to C&R So, I was thinking about an inexpensive Tokarev. I am looking at 7.62x25, and have two I'm debating - first one I really like the design - a Yugoslavian M57 made by Zastava. The second is a Romanian TTC. Are they comparable ? Are there any 7.62x25's that are better than others ? I see some Norinco one's, but they are more money - are they worth it. The ones I'm looking at are around $ 230. Thanks !

Re: Tokarev
You should buy two of the same of what ever you finally decide so you can have available spare parts. Unless you have a supplier all ready.
They have them here.

Re: Tokarev
The Yugo Tok mags are not interchangeable with any others so keep that in mind. As for the rest, Norinco, Polish, Romanian, etc. it seems to boil down to personal preference. Not sure there's a huge difference between any of them.

Re: Tokarev
Yeah, I see if you can find the mags, they are pricey ! A guy on another forum showed how to make CZ52 mags work. He says they are basically the same mag, just don't have the cut for release seeing cz52 is heel release. He put together a little tutorial to show where and how to cut ( pretty basic ) and says they work perfect. Have to see how much cz52 mags are now

Re: Tokarev
The Yugoslav models are better quality than the Romainian stuff.
As far as mags go it's a crapshoot with that gun. Ammo for the Tok is getting harder to come buy as well. I'd try to find another CZ-82 or Makarov of another origin.
At least the 9X18 ammo can be found locally. You Can Take My Gun When You Pry it From My Dead, Cold, Hand !

Re: Tokarev
Yeaaah, but the 82 doesnt have the same history, romance as the TOK as the gun that won the war , its not the same. Dont get me wrong , i love the 82 and have a beautiuful one , but its not the same as the TOK.
The TOK is cheap enough to have several.

Re: Tokarev
Yeah I am more partial to the 7.62x25mm round myself, I bet it has more stopping power.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....

Re: Tokarev
Thanks all ! Yeah, I wanted a 7.62x25 and the M57 looked the best to me. Saw them for $199 at J&G and they ship C&R. I threw in a Russina Nagant on the order, always thought they were kinda neat, and still $99 - at the York Gunshow dealers were trying to get $200 for them. So a Tokarev M57 and a Russian Nagant for $299 plus shipped to the house C&R so not transfer cost - a good day

Yugo M57 is the way to go, quality is excellent. Almost as good as my 1940 Tula
