Retention level is a personal choice, but I really like the Safariland ALS. Works great for me. Only one level of retention. The best retention has nothing to do with the holster though. If you plan on OCing and don't take some sort of retention course you're doing yourself a disservice.

I agree. I have been satisfied with my serpa. I was a Safe Physical Management Instructor at work. I took some of the things I learned and developed some drills I can practice. After practicing I felt like I should get a level 3 at some point. Just my personal choice. My wife still wants to keep her Serpa.

I practice retention with my CC holster( Crossbreed) also.

The best level of retention is "Always aware of your surroundings"

    I also use a Serpa.

Just got a Safariland ALS for one of my pistols, the one I oc most often. Got that over the Serpa due to it being similar to the thumb break and tension holster (DeSantis Speed Scabbard) I have for my CW9.

One statement for ya: When you see a police officer openly carrying his issued duty weapon in a Serpa holster, on patrol duty, then I think you would be ok to wear the current low retention quality holster "Serpa."

But what about the possibility of an AD. After all, your using your trigger finger to push on the lever. Serpa inbound.

True but even more so the rest of the community that believes in the right to defend themselves. Any action that allows someone to take your firearm from you looks bad on the whole group.

Your finger presses at the angle it would be if you were indexing along the gun, not sticking your finger in the trigger guard.

If you manage to pull the trigger drawing from a Serpa, sorry, the problem is you.

Agreed! I dry-practiced many times, and never did my finger end up inside the trigger guard. Not even the first time.
