How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
They seem small and thin compared to the solid steel slide rails of the SIG. Just wondering how strong/durable they actually are? Looks like they can bend easily. Am i worrying for nothing?

Re: How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
Yes, you're worrying for nothing.
The guide rod kind of melted, but the slide rails are intact.Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
There are Glocks that have gone several hundred thousand rounds with those rails. I read an article by Peter Kokalis who has a G17 that went 170,000 rds with no breakage, no malfunctions, and no cleaning (he admits to using a lot of cheap and dirty Wolf steel case ammo on the range).
Don't worry.

Glocks are about the most bomb proof guns out there. You won't wear one out.

I think Glocks are compromised when exposed to temperatures equal to the surface temperature of the sun. Short of that, just make sure you don't accidentally hammer the slide rails repeatedly with a sledgehammer.

Re: How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
The wider tolerances mean less wear even though the rails themselves are small. There just isn't a ton of friction going on there.
It'll out live you most likely.

Re: How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
In and around 2002 I bought an "E" series G23. There was a run of Glocks with rail breakage. I think you can search it on Glocktalk.
Mine broke sometime while running a 700 round tac pistol class. I don't know when it broke but the gun never skipped a beat.
I found out when I cleaned the pistol.
Glock replaced it .

Re: How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
Agreed the Glock rail system is one of the best. Less play once the device is locked up and a solid feel. I like rail system on my Glocks better then the rail system on my PX4 45acp. The Taurus 24/7 rails are tighter then on my Beretta PX4.

Re: How durable are the Glock Slide Rails?
I would not worry about them. Glocks are probably the most reliable gun out there. The Glock has proven itself many times and I suspect it will be the benchmark that other guns are compared to.
