Default Help me pick a .45

I'm in the market for a .45acp and I'm having trouble making a decision. This will be a target/home defense gun. So far I like:

    Springfield armory TRP w/light rail
Springfield armory XD 5" tactical model
    Sig Sauer P220

any help is greatly appreciated my budget is 1000.00 I know .45 ammo is getting steep and I have full size and compact 9mm pistols. I just want a .45acp

I like the top two cause thats how I roll. Others are quite different I'm sure.

Do you own a 1911? I'm one of those idiots that think everyone should have one. I like the TRP but they cost every bit of your budget.

I also like the XD Tactical. I think It's a lot of gun for the money. Sweet shooting .45!

For a target gun, I would rather have the TRP. For a home defense gun I would rather have the heavier trigger pull and no manual safety of the XD Tactical.

If I had to choose, I'd go with the XD Tact and send it off for a trigger job. Will still come in well under the TRP price, and be the best of both worlds. Hell, you can have a trigger job done and install night sights on it and still be under the TRP price.

The only way I would buy the 1911 is if I thought it might be a while before I could come up with the money to buy one in the future. If it's a "dream gun" then buy it whle you have the cash.

    My two cents....flame away!

If those 3 are your only considerations... I'd go with the Sig P220.

I say TRP if you have money for it.
But P220 is very reliable gun too.. But I myself not care for their larger then usual(for being single stack) grip area, and have to admit DA/SA, metal frame/slide type 3rd generation gun is bit outdated design. Not the 1911 is any newer. But at least you can turn your 1911 in to ANYTHING that you desire(and your warret support)

I like XD 9 tactical, but have to admit not too care abouot their 45ACP model.
If you want polymor framed 45, look no farther then M&P45. Then get trigger job done at Dan Burwell for $65, then you'll have one dependable, accurate 45 shooter
