Smile A few questions on Rock Island Armory 1911....

I am looking into purchasing a rock island armory tactical 1911 in nickle...its sub 500 dolla range really caught my attention...

    A few questions...

-Will it accept all the other 1911 mags i have already?

-How are they quality wise, fit/finish...

    -How are they on accuracy?

-How does it compare to the colt i already have, looking into it as a gift for pops...

    Thanks Everyone, be safe!

I was wondering about those questions myself i will be watching this thread to see the answers.
I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

-Will it accept all the other 1911 mags i have already? Yes, as long as the mags you have are full-size single-stacks.

-How are they quality wise, fit/finish... I can't speak to the RIA nickel model. My parkerized RIA M1911A1 clone was beautifully phosphated (parkerized) with a thick coating of phosphate. Everything was fitted up well, too. I worked on hundreds if not thousands of M1911A1s in the 70s and into the 80s as a Marine armorer, and my RIA is GTG. I bought it used for $290 OTD.

-How are they on accuracy? My RIA is as accurate as my Colt Series 80 SS Govt Model, and shoots tighter groups than the Series 70 Gold Cup I presently own and hardly ever shoot. YMMV.

-How does it compare to the colt i already have, looking into it as a gift for pops... I haven't seen your Colt, so I can't comment.

I have 2 RIA's, a gov't model (that I customized) and a tactical (parkerized). Mine both shoot better than I can hold, nice and tight and I've had no malfunctions with either. For me (my opinion), I don't care for nickle plated guns, I'd rather have a SS. As for comparing to a Colt, can't really say. There that been earlier model Colts that were to die for, nice deep rich bluing, etc., and then there were Colts that were so-so.

For the price, I don't think you can go wrong with a RIA.

I can't speak to that particular model - but I have two RIA's 1911's, one compact 45 and one 38 Super. They are fantastic, quality pistols. I have never had a problem with either. I would be confident in buying any RIA. Good luck !

Don't know about the RIA 1911, but I do like the looks and feel of the RI Range Officer. I usually don't like plan Jane 1911s some people do wanting a mil spec 1911 that sounds like work to do to me.
